About Wyatt Hersey
You don’t come across a wildlife biologist and nature connection mentor turned into artist and illustrator every day; meet Wyatt Hersey. Hailing from the city of Santa Cruz, his practice is rooted in illustration, painting and muralism, exploring narratives of relational ecology and a better understanding of the ecological systems all around us, while never forgetting a sense of playfulness.

Destination: Camp Wandawega
A few hours drive outside of Chicago, you will find Camp Wandawega, a unique place with a rich history. Originally built in 1925 at the height of the Prohibition Era, it was a safe haven for a cast of outlaws, criminals on the run and other interesting characters looking for liquor, prostitution and gambling. After its illicit adventures, the property was purchased by the Catholic Church and in the 1970’s it became a Latvian Church Camp for Catholic Latvians. In 2004 David and Tereasa, the new owners, purchased the grounds and they have been running Camp Wandawega since, providing a getaway from the city life and a return to other, simpler, times. Back in 2020, we hosted a Summer Camp, and now we are excited to return to enjoy the winter landscapes of Wandawega.
