About David Bruce
In the suburbs of Paris, David Bruce discovered graffiti at a young age and immediately fell in love. From sketches to writing to painting trains, to eventually transcending into the studio painting and making sculptures. Nowadays working from his studio in Liege, Belgium, David has created a bold style that reminds us of contemporary pop art through his motifs of smileys, basketballs, and bananas.

Destination: Näsets Marcusgård, Sweden
Back in 1910, a man called Marcus Eriksson founded Näsets Marcusgård in rural Sweden, about a four hours drive north of Stockholm. It started small, but soon the farm became the central meeting place in the area. Nowadays Näsets Marcusgård is run by two Dutch entrepreneurs, Mireille and Willem, who were immediately inspired to build a place that combines history and nature with modern comfort and quality.

A little word from David…

"I didn't have any particular expectations for this trip. For me, it was more of a social experience, getting out of my studio and my routine to meet new people in an unfamiliar place. I had met Kitra once before, when we crossed paths in Berlin about ten years ago, and I didn't know Jérôme, neither him nor his work. They turned out to be two very different personalities, while both sharing the same passion for work and this need to create, to make things and believe in them. It led us to many conversations over the course of the week. Ultimately, we all share the same dream: to do what we love.

I have very fond memories of us arriving at night in this small Swedish village, in the middle of the forest and at the end of the road. We arrived in this snowy corner of paradise, where silence and tranquility reigned and time seemed to stand still. The thing that surprised me the most was the kindness of everyone and towards everyone, the welcome we received from our two hosts, in the midst of this fabulous natural setting. This stay will be unforgettable, and I returned fully recharged!

The artwork I created inspired by this trip is a relatively simple one, and it is representing the immensity of the nature I was able to surround myself with. So much beauty to be contemplated, for example during our walks in the middle of the forest, the plains, the small villages, where we simply sought to rest our gaze on nature. Everything felt even more magical this far north, under the snow and the cold of the Swedish landscape."
