Jaunt spotlight: Portugal
Over the years we have had the pleasure to work with a lot of amazing Portuguese artists, who we have had the pleasure of sending on trips all over the world, and have worked together with in various exhibitions. You can find an overview of the Portuguese artists that we’ve worked together with down below.
Wasted Rita
During the course of her artistic practice Wasted Rita has been exploring her love-hate relationship with life and her surrounding world. Dubbing herself as a Natural Born Agent Provocateur, she likes to think, write and draw without filter, resulting in little gems of sarcastic wisdom dipped in acid which reflect on an unconventional upbringing in a Catholic school to the sounds of Black Flag. Her creative process ranges from sculptural objects, installations, paintings, drawings and writing, using her unique voice to give form to her mordant observations and poetic invectives on human behaviour and contemporary culture.

VHILS
About Vhils
The Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto, also known as Vhils has developed a unique visual language based on the removal of the surface layers of walls and other media with non-conventional tools and techniques. With his work he is establishing symbolic reflections on identity, the relationship of interdependence between people and the surrounding environment, and life in contemporary urban societies, as well as the impact of development, the passage of time, and material transformation.
In collaboration with The Jaunt, Vhils produced two unique print editions. The first edition was a risograph print, while the second print edition was a silkscreen print edition.
AKACorleone
Pedro Campiche started out as a graffiti writer in the streets of his native Lisbon. Writing the streets with his tag, AKACorleone, inspired by his fascination with the classic Godfather movies. After a brief stint as a graphic designer he became wholeheartedly disappointed with the industry, and decided to work as an illustrator and artist to further develop his artistic career. And this has not gone unnoticed, with exhibitions and murals all over the world and recently his first published monograph. Pedro has a great eye for colors, typography and composition, combined with a touch of humor.
