Spotlight: The Pacific Northwest

The Pacific Northwest, stretching from Northern California through Oregon and Washington into British Columbia, is a region defined by its beautiful terrains. Stunning mountains, dense forests, rugged coastlines, and volcanic peaks. Its abundant rainfall nurtures lush greenery and misty landscapes that have become iconic symbols of natural beauty. From the serene shores of Puget Sound to the majestic Columbia River Gorge, the region captivates and inspires with its diverse ecosystems and ever-changing light. This raw, atmospheric beauty has long inspired artists, writers, and musicians seeking to capture its mystique.

Our spotlight on The Pacific Northwest allows you to find a series of artworks and limited edition prints inspired by the region. The PNW has been the destination of plenty of trips with The Jaunt, from the island of Haida Gwaii in British Colombia, to the small town of Joseph, in the north east of Oregon, and the Coast Starlight, the Amtrak train that runs from Los Angeles all the way up to Vancouver. Below you can find a selection of prints inspired by the Pacific Northwest.

The land was previously called ‘Cota’ and was inhabited and managed by the Squaxin Island Tribe, later called Sheltonville when it was officially incorporated in 1890, and nowadays just Shleton. With a long tradition in logging and lumber milling, and the abundance of fire and pine trees growing in the area, it explains why the city is also referred to as Christmastown, USA.

This is our very first Winter Camp, and we are proud to collaborate together with Hashimoto Contemporary on this new exciting venture. Aside from the prints, each artist will create a body of original works inspired by their experiences during the Winter Camp, resulting in a group exhibition opening on the 7th of December at Hashimoto San Francisco.

Stretching all the way from Los Angeles up to Seattle, and even further up north to Vancouver, you can find the train tracks of the Coast Starlight Train. By all accounts a pretty epic train ride up the West Coast of the United States, with special observatory carriages on the train. While the last part from Seattle to Vancouver is technically not part of the Coast Starlight Train, it does perhaps provide the most scenic scenes while driving right by the coast line on its way up to Canada.
